While this was a fun trip down memory lane for those of us who grew up in that era, it does cement the book to a particular era in time, unless of course that particular hairstyle comes back into vogue again. Originally published around 1990, the book shows its age, particularly in some of the hairstyles women wear, and it really shows in the main character's girlfriend, Murano. ![]() ![]() If you haven't read Parasyte before, you're in for a fun ride, if a bit of a dated one. So imagine the fun of seeing the artwork flipped and the parasite now residing in the boy's left arm (apparently Tokyopop changed the parasite's name to "Lefty" for their translation). While this may not seem like a big deal to the casual reader, it probably made a big deal to creator Hitoshi iwaaki, who created the story of a boy who's right hand was taken over by an alien parasite named "Migi", Japanese for "Right". Now that we've really caught on as a society to the idea of reading manga in its pure form, Del Rey has begun republishing the series in its original format, read from right to left. Parasyte was originally published by Tokyopop in a "flipped" fashion that made it more accessible to Western readers who might be a little new to this crazy manga thing. Art by: Hitoshi Iwaaki Don't be surprised if get the feeling you've read this manga before, but things seem a little reversed. ![]()

All of these anxieties rely on the idea of a golden age, when children and adults alike sat quietly for long stretches reading edifying literature that improved our minds and souls. The "death of the book" is an anxiety that has spawned a thousand jeremiads about the dumbing down of American culture, the ever-shorter attention spans of our children, the collapse of civilized discourse. Their obsolescence, in turn, was expected to doom the habits of mind that longform print had once prompted: the capacity to follow a demanding idea from start to finish, to look beyond the day's news, or even just to be alone. Around 2000, people began to believe that books were on verge of extinction. ![]() ![]() ![]() Having been on her journey of discovering life, author Rhonda Byrne brings together for her readers an extremely motivating and self-confiding journey to fill our lives with joy and contentment. ![]() Like all other previous books of the author, this one too is a life altering book which takes you on a self-help journey to spiritual enlightenment.
